Packed full of inside jokes for Alien fans, Alien Next Door features a wealth of original, full colour, art work from artist Joey Spiotto; even more than that, this is the ONLY illustrated cartoon book to be officially licensed by 20th Century Fox; and it has the blessing of the now-deceased original Alien designer H.R. Giger – shwoing a softer side to his classic creation. Whilst fans of the Alien series will get many of the jokes within Alien Next Door, artist Joey Spiotto doesn’t target his illustrations at just those that have seen, and loved, the movies. Even those with a passing interest in (or vague idea about) the franchise can appreciate the humour within this book – the one-page drawings feature everything from an Alien washing up, to taking selfies with a cat!
There are some real laugh out loud illustrations in Spiotto’s book; highlights include the Alien cosplaying at a Comic Con as the Predator, Alien mopping up after the infamous chestburster scene, Newt using the Alien’s tail as a jump rope, an Alien painting facehugger eggs for Easter, an Alien taking Jones the cat to the vet; and a very sweet, touching image of an Alien laying flowers at the grave of H.R.
